Physical Fitness As An Evolutionary Advantage

Ever wished you often had an Olympic Gold medalist smile and not the face of a bum? It is often said that "Health is Wealth", and wealth is definitely an evolutionary advantage, thus making health also an evolutionary advantage. People often forget this saying, intentionally and unintentionally, out of some other misguided reason for their physical existence on Earth. For example, cigarette smoking not only because it is addictive but because John Lennon is also smoking cigarettes and because it annoys controlling and domineering parents is a misguided reason. Not eating a balanced diet, not because one could not afford it but because thin is in and because other cool people are not eating a balanced diet is also another misguided reason. Well, you might get rhetorical and say that evolutionary advantage for humans is not just physical but also cultural that's why some habits that endanger one's health can still give one an overall evolutionary advantage. Really? If that is the case then we should all forget about watching football and get 5 packs of cigarettes and smoke our lungs out. The reason why cigarette smoking is cool is that people are not 100% reasonable and some excesses that can be damaging to one's physical well-being can be welcomed because other people are already healthily assuring the survival of our species so a few delinquents won't hurt our chances. The problem is when the few forget that they are not the majority and assert themselves over the majority, in effect dragging a few healthy ones into their herd. Thus, we need to make the statement over and over again that physical fitness is an evolutionary advantage.

No Time For Physical Fitness

Let us ask ourselves again why being physically fit is an evolutionary advantage in an age where brainpower is king. Well, in being physically fit, there's fertility, healthier skin, healthier hair, better resistance against diseases and stressors,more attractive teeth for smiling and the list goes on and on. Of course, we already know this but we don't keep them in mind all the time. With these benefits why are still there people who say they do not have time for physical fitness when they actually have if they want to? The answer is inertia. Inertia can either be a powerful ally or a formidable foe. It's harder to get started on an exercise or diet regimen than it is to maintain an exercise or diet program that has already been started. That is very basic. The initial force to get your "you know what" moving is so great that some people are not able to wield this force and overcome the inertia of doubt, laziness or embarrassment. If this is the case then simply ask yourself the question. Do you want to wither away in history and on planet Earth as a physically unfit person? If not then just jog for an hour everyday for at least a week, no matter how uncomfortable or painful it is and realize at the end of the week how much better you feel than the previous week.

Modern Options

If you have convinced yourself that "Health is Wealth" and that Einstein could have made a lot more theories in physics if he quit smoking and exercised more, then what should you do in an Age of Information and Media? Our age has not only produced communication wonders but also wonders like hgh. It has not only produced the internet but also gene therapy and HGH(Human Growth Hormone)supplements. People nowadays stick to the traditional regimen of good diet, regular exercise, enough rest and Vitamin C along with other supplements.However, to be truly modern and adapt to changing times and changing needs we need to accept the reality of genetic engineering and HGH.
